The story of red beryl
The red glow came to be described and known only at the beginning of the 20th century.
Its discoverer was the mineralogist Maynard Bixby. That’s why one of its names is bixbite, a tribute to whoever found it for the first time.
But even so, it is not easier to find in nature. It is usually found in rhyolitic volcanic rocks.
On the contrary, it is one of the rarest minerals. Even with its formula being similar to that of the emerald, it is very difficult to find.

From the gathering of the same substances, the laboratory was able to reach the production of synthetic red beryl.
In the laboratory, attempts were made to mimic all the geological conditions so that red beryl could be synthesized. As a result, they were relatively successful.
The stone is so well produced that only professionals can distinguish between the natural red glow and the lab-created one.

It is not one of the most expensive minerals. Despite being expensive, there are still stones that have a higher value than them. But its value is also irrelevant.
When natural red beryl undergoes a polishing process, its value greatly increases. It can reach up to 10 thousand dollars a carat. That is almost 50 thousand reais.
Known beryl stones are less than 3 carats.
Synthetic red beryl is much more affordable. However, since 2016, the company that manufactures this stone in Russia no longer works with this material.
